About Us

Shima Institute of Management and Leadership exists to advance the
understanding of management and leadership as key ingredients of
social and economic development. It provides a forum professionals to
share management and leadership skills, knowledge and expertise
around key themes affecting the business environment in Kenya and
beyond.

Shima Institute of Management and Leadership is incorporated in
Kenya. Our offices are located at Simba Apartments, D09, Near KQ
Headquarters, Old Airport, Nairobi.

Focus of our Work

Shima Institute’s Work focuses on the following core areas:

  • Providing cutting-edge academic and non-academic courses
    on diverse topics - on a full-time, part-time or distance learning
    basis
  • Building the capacity of individuals and organizations to design
    and implement initiatives that best address the needs of
    vulnerable communities.
  • Promoting dialogue between managers, researchers, policy
    makers and development practitioners through discussion
    forums, seminars, workshops and conferences
  • Contributing to the creation and dissemination of knowledge on
    Management and Leadership through policy analysis, research
    and publications.
  • Promoting access to the latest information on management
    and leadership

Our Approach

Shima Institute combines training, capacity building and policy
dialogue to create a composite approach to management and
leadership: one that combines theory and practice. We focus on how
management and leadership affects people’s lives, including access
to life-preserving health, education, food, or information services. We
not only develop skills around managing and leading various process
relevant to key develop concerns in the region, but also provide a forum
for exploration and extrapolation of new ideas and knowledge on with a
view to coming up with practical business solutions for improving the
delivery of services to communities in Africa.

We Believe that doing things on our
